Talking about the avatar picture...I remember there used to allow us to browse one from our computer as well as providing a space for us to type in the picture's URL. Now only the URL is allowed. The avatar of some members that I believed being uploaded from the computer were gone. I renewed mine by typing in the URL instead.

It is not a complain or something because I'm fine with the system, in fact, most forum actually go with this system anyway(only using URL), but I thought I should mention it in case it was a glitch or something.

in a forum I usually go to, they actually have an award system yea like baby award for most active new member or a spam award for the person who spamed the most

Ever since we changed the ol' chatbox, the usual spammers lose their motivation. I can understand that. Most of our entertainments from chatbox comes with user's ability to become anonymous. Not to mention, view youtube videos without going through the trouble to go the site itself.

If there's any replacement for chatango (previous chatbox) that can still has these features and at the same time does not compromised some people's inability to login to chatbox, it will be great..

Overall, the forum has more content than ever and I see some effort from some of our members, creating new threads to make our forum more interesting. I for one, applaud their deeds on making our forum from fallen into the depth of dullness.
Very Happy

Re: Forum Feedback

Post by Alucard on Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:51 pm

Hello, just another guest poster, abusing I MEAN taking advantage of the anonymous posting. First, let me say that I'm content with our club and that you guys are awesome. The following are some observations on the forum which I hope you will find useful.

What I like:
1. No horizontal stretching.
Images just get cropped, which is better than stretching. I approve.

2. Spoiler function.
Load images only if you choose to and save yourself from AAAGH NO WHAT DO YOU MEAN GOKU DIES

What I disagree with: (sorry if these have been mentioned before)
1. A lot of subforums with very little activity.
I was very puzzled by how many subforums we have. We are a small club with an even smaller number of active forum members, so most subforums end up deserted. First few times here I kept looking around in dead boards. Eventually I just used the left bar on the main site to jump to the active topics : /

2. Huge signatures, ranks and avatars.
This makes things particularly hard when there are quick conversations and there are lots of one-liners (so to speak). Most of the scrolling then becomes attributed to the empty vertical space. I could turn images off, but I like seeing avatars for recognition.

3. Only 15 posts per page.
Combined with huge signatures etc, this makes reading rather.... tedious? A lot of scrolling + clicking + loading for not very much reading.

4. Visible to Google.
Being a club forum intended for internal use, I don't see why this forum is searchable by Google. You realise that your pictures and everything you say is available to the whole world, including your future employer? It's the reason I'm posting anonymously right now. Fortunately some subforums are only visible to members, but I have not seen them (har har >_>).

If anything else comes to mind, I'll bring it up. Looking forward to next sem with MAOU!

We will try to revamp our forum to a better one after our exams.

Your identity in this forum is remained anonymous because, everything here can be seen after we upgraded you as a member. So don't worry!

Once again, thank you for your feedback.

suggestions?

Post by john on Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:16 am

here are my suggestions for the forum:

i feel that of the topics have gone astray. i strongly feel that this should not be the case so newcomers would not feel lost when searching for quick answers or if they would like to know more about a certain topic. i would like to suggest more consideration from the moderators to ensure that this does not take place.

SUGGESTION: since we like to chat often, maybe we can have sections which are monitored very closely (such as general, discussion room, and market place) and loosely monitored (others which are not mentioned previously).

at the agreement of the TOS page, button text are bright green in color. please fix this to show a darker color to make it more soothing to the eye.

TOS register PAGE SOLVED.

Please spare us some time about moderating the forum. Our moderators are currently busy, hopefully, after our exam period, we will resume the moderator promptly.

Thank you.

Re: Forum Feedback

Post by Guest on Wed Nov 04, 2009 12:04 am

Hm...Kaichou, I think all the moderators and admin should have a guideline to follow when it comes to moderating a forum. Sure we can always use our common sense for that and old admins and mods should know what to do already, but just to let the rest of us and for the future new mods/admins to confirm and know what exactly we need to do for a certain problem in a forum, as well as letting us know which type of function(such as banning a member lol) can be used by which level of moderator. Things can be a lot easier when we have something to refer to(because we all are a bunch of lazy a$$ lol)

P/S Am I part of the moderating team...? I can see some moderating functions with my account...(stupid question I know...)

Swt... It's not like I'm gonna be catching up anytime soon.... Too lazy to post nowadays~

Yeah a guideline would be a great idea. Oh and please remove the inactive(dead users) moderators and hire new ones. Just a few of us aren't enough to manage. We can't all be on the forum like 24/7.

Well the idea of putting guidelines for moderators and would-be moderators are a good idea so that they know what to do without consenting/relying the admin (Kaichou =p) when situations arise.
I would also like to suggest an overall change of design/layout of the forum. Since we did that during our last summer break, (from pinkish, flower petals to the current one). It could be nice for a change and also to indicate the reformation of our club too. And we got a lot of time during the holidays to make those necessary changes. Very Happy
